Knowledge Shared is Knowledge Gained
“Timing is Everything”

Great Timing, Great Idea
‘Ever wonder what’s the most popular, most lucrative, or other “best” measure to get a “leg up” getting on the how-to tips bandwagon? Maybe you’ve pondered what the best time is for tips, landing on a season of the year as your answer.
You can be successful with any topic reflecting your knowledge, any time of year, with the right audience, clear focus, and refined sales techniques. It can produce outstanding results almost regardless of your topic.
Too Close to See
You may find solace in knowing that although I’ve advised clients of this concept many times, the bigger-picture brilliance of this only arrived in my brain recently! A crystal clear model existed in one client’s case years ago and I frequently reference it in my teachings. And yet…
I identified over a dozen life events that tips are the IDEAL delivery format leading up to the event and/or immediately after it. People anticipating and/or experiencing the life event need bite sized pieces guiding them on what to do in the particular situation. They cannot focus on or absorb long, in-depth, narrative explanations at that time. That’s for later. How-to tips are a PERFECT and most helpful starting point.
Clarifying Example
Connecting the dots, here is an example:
A rabbi I knew had advanced training in grief counseling. He planned to write a book, “When Death Visits a Jewish Home.” The book would list religious rituals to follow plus lengthy narrative background and history about each ritual.
A book seems counterproductive when people are mourning. A tips booklet is better suited, more appropriate, and a very useful format at that point.
Pete and Repeat
The next step for this rabbi is going to vendors who serve people involved with Jewish death – funeral homes, cemeteries, urn manufacturers, headstone masons, local caterers, obituary writers, officiants, etc. etc. Sell large quantities of the branded tips product for each of the vendors to provide to their clients. THEN a year later, go back to those same bulk buyers with the originally planned book. Those vendors would then purchase branded large quantities to provide to families they served a year earlier. The loved ones would be ready to explore that book and be reminded of who provided the excellent service in their time of need.
That is exactly what this rabbi did and it was well received. Tips booklet first, larger book a year later. Distributing these products free to their clients helped the vendors attract and retain more clients.
